Timetable for other family and toddler groups in the wider area

In The Pipeline

These are groups that have the potential to start. They are either on here because people have expressed an interest in the activity - but we need a volunteer who might like to run it, or because we have a volunteer who would like to run the sessions but either they need another volunteer to join them, or we are waiting for people to sign up to take part in the activity.

So, if you see something here that catches your eye, either because you'd like to get involved running it, or because you'd like to take part in the session, please get in touch with The Balsam Centre 01963 31842.

retro gamers club

Retro Games Club

A chance to come and play old computer games with other like-minded adults. We have X-Box 360 console and 4 controllers, but you are welcome to bring your console too, and any games. We have a volunteer interested in running this evening session, but would welcome another volunteer to help. So get in touch to sign up to join the group or to volunteer

choir

Choir

We have had several people express an interest in joining a choir. We did have someone who booked our room for a choir, which was very popular, but she has now retired. Do you have skills to run one? We'd love to hear from you!

cafe

Loose Ends Cafe

Our very popular cafe had to close after Covid because the volunteers who helped to run it stepped away. Maggie was an absolute wonder but she has moved on to new projects, so we are looking for a team of people who would like to cook, serve and clear up once a week.

lifedrawing

Life Drawing

We have serveral people who would love to come back to this if it can re-start - we just need a volunteer to be here one evening a week to supervise it. You don't need to teach - this is a group for people to just come and draw - and we even have professional people who we pay to come along and model. If you're interested in running this - and taking part - please contact us 01963 31842

english classes

English Classes

We have a volunteer with full ESOL qualifications and we can start this group if you of anyone in the community who is struggling to learn English. Contact us for more information. 01963 31842.

IT classes

IT Classes

We have several volunteers who are willing to give people help with their IT - whether it is a new ipad or notebook, a laptop, or a mobile phone, these volunteers can help absolute beginners to get going. So if you think you would like to join a class, let us know! 01963 31842

Support Us!

The Balsam Centre is an independent charity set up by local people for local people.

Whilst the work of the Centre is long term, funding for its projects and services is all too frequently short term.

It is largely thanks to help from a fund created by a legacy left by one person, that the Balsam Centre has been able to continue its mental health work over the last few years. The help that this has given hundreds of people is a permanent and living memorial to that person’s generosity.

If you are thinking of donating, have you considered becoming a Friend of the Balsam Centre? This is a commitment to regular giving of any amount, at any interval, by standing order, and even better, if you are a UK tax payer and you ‘tick’ to say so, we can claim another 25% on top of your donation to support the work of the Centre. Become a Friend here!
