Spark Somerset: Development Managers (Volunteering for Health)

Full time | Salary £32,000 per annum

Spark Somerset are currently recruiting for two full time Development Managers. Funded by the national Volunteering for Health programme, these exciting roles will support the development of volunteering within two Primary Care Network (PCN) areas, Frome and the Rural Practice Network (Wincanton, Castle Cary, Queen Camel and Milborne Port).
The role involves piloting new ways of working and supporting the needs of the community to improve health outcomes through volunteering and volunteers. It will also involve working with a range of partners within each PCN area to complement existing activity and explore new opportunities, ensuring activity is joined up and placing the volunteer at the heart.
The roles will be predominantly based in Frome and Wincanton, with a large portion of time spent working within communities in the Frome PCN and Rural Practice Network areas.

Open Mental Health Locality Lead, South Somerset

29.5 hours per week | Salary up to £37,000 pro rata

Open Mental Health is a Somerset Alliance of local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations and the NHS working with Somerset Council. Our shared ambition is to ensure that people living with mental health challenges get the right support at the right time.
​
The Locality Lead will be responsible for the oversight and effective delivery of Open Mental Health work across South Somerset. You will be working with a small Recovery and Wellbeing Worker team, who bring different approaches and specialisms to support individuals and families experiencing the effects of mental ill health.

Conkers Nursery Early Years Practitioner

30 hours per week | Flexible job share considered

Conkers is The Balsam Centre’s community nursery. We provide a happy, nurturing environment to enable all children to reach their full potential. We are now looking for an experienced Level 2 or Level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioner who is able to work flexibly between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday for 30 hours per week. Alternatively, this post could be split as a job share.

The salary is dependent on experience. We offer generous terms and conditions including a bonus day off on your birthday.

The role of our Trustees is to ensure that the Balsam Centre is fulfilling its mission to help people lead healthy, happy lives, supporting our Executive Team and other Board colleagues as much as holding them to account. The Balsam Centre is proud to have an excellent reputation for the quality of our work, which is based on clear values and a special way of doing things. We now have vacancies for Trustees to lead on finance, clinical services, strengthening the voice of the community in our work, and bringing the experience of people who use our services to the Board.

Growing Space Trustee Vacancies

The Growing Space helps people to improve their mental health through gardening, horticulture and getting into nature. We have a beautiful plot in the heart of Wincanton adjacent to our sister charity, The Balsam Centre, but operate across various sites in South Somerset.
With several recent successful grant applications and a clear plan for growth, we are now looking for a new Chair and Trustees to join our Board as we look to the future and embark on a new phase of expansion and development.
You should have significant experience of helping people through horticulture, community development or business. Level of seniority is less important than ethos, energy and commitment to changing lives, but it is likely that you will have worked at a senior level in one context or another.

Minibus drivers, CAT Bus

Based in Wincanton, South Somerset Community Accessible Transport require part-time minibus drivers.

Hourly rate of pay is £13.68 including holiday pay (from 1 April 2025).
​
Hours are flexible but may involve some early morning, evening and weekend work.
​
Applicants must have a caring disposition and hold a full clean driver’s licence with D1 category. Suitable applicants will be subject to minibus test and DBS checks.

Bank Caretaker/Cleaner

The Balsam Centre is looking for a Bank Caretaker/ Cleaner to provide occasional cover for holiday and absence periods for the three other members of the caretaking team. This is a zero hours contract working 5.30pm-8.00pm, with some later lock-ups as needed.
